Art Basel is the final fair of the season and it is exciting. It boasts the most distinguished roster of exhibitors, enhanced by the astutely curated attendant sections within the Fair. Add in the significant museum exhibitions plus the satellite fairs and it is a blow-out of a week.
Museum shows featured Jean Michel Basquiat and Felix Gonzales-Torres at the Beyeler Foundation, Gabriel Orozco at the Kunstmuseum, Rodney Graham at the Museum Fur Gegenwartskunst and Matthew Barney at Schaulager. There were six satellite fairs and a new program, titled Art Parcours, which featured site-specific installations and performances in unique locations throughout Basel.
