Exhibition Title
On Thursday, November 10, Stremmel Gallery will host a reception for their exhibition of works by six new contemporary artists, entitled "Introductions." Paintings by Bill Braun, William Glen Crooks, Jessica Dunne, Dale Livezey, and Sharon Maczko, and ceramics by Rebekah Bogard will be shown through December 3.

This exhibition features works by six noted contemporary artists from several western states who are all showing at Stremmel Gallery for the first time. Although three of the artists are primarily landscape painters, all six are widely diverse in their particular point of view, only finding common ground in the broadest possible sense through realism. Rebekah Bogard, Assistant Professor of ceramics at the University of Nevada, Reno, will be showing a new series of beautifully crafted ceramic sculptures based on anthropomorphic forms. Bill Braun's remarkable acrylic tromp l'oeil paintings appear to be the kind of cutout construction paper forms found in children's drawings. William Glen Crooks paints the landscape in a more traditional, heroic manner, but creates a slightly surrealistic element through his unique use of reflected light. Jessica Dunne's large canvasses perfectly capture the sense of isolation and mystery we have all experienced during nocturnal drives through an urban area. Dale Livezey conveys the colors and phenomenon of early morning or late afternoon light on a seemingly endless landscape in his native Montana. Sharon Maczko prefers to probe our subconscious with the desperation and futility of a still life moment through her exacting and meticulously painted watercolors.

An opening reception will be held on Thursday, November 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The public is invited to attend the reception, view the exhibition and meet the artists. The show will continue through December 3. Stremmel Gallery is located at 1400 S. Virginia Street. Hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm.
