Tom Judd | The World Is Flat

Stremmel Gallery is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of new works by painter Tom Judd from May 19 through June 18, 2011. “The World Is Flat” refers to the artist’s large mural size painting made of discarded cardboards depicting a map of the world; Along with it’s primitive execution, the use of cardboard boxes as a canvas, echo’s the casual throw away culture we live in. This oversized installation (12x25 feet in diameter) forces the viewer to confront personal waste management in a playful and materially appropriate way, the relevance of this work to our Eco challenged times is without measure. The artist credits Rauschenberg’s cardboard pieces as one of the inspirations for this installation. To view filmmaker John Thornton's latest video on the artist, please visit, Tom Judd, The World Is Flat.
